Ollantaytambo is a touristy town, after 8 pm. Ollantaytambo is empty, on the other hand, Urubamba has a lot of locals that make the town be alive and bustling. Seize the gaps and drive like a bat out of hell and all will be well. It may feel counterintuitive to how you normally would drive, but this is the way in Peru and it works. Expect the unexpected.
