I have had one swapped in my 60 for 8 years and 65k miles, and love it! Yes, it's a medium duty engine, so some states may take issue with it. But that's about it. It's worth consideration if you want a diesel with improved performance and mileage from a gasser, at a very reasonable costs. Read my swap below.I cannot push the R2.8 back as far as the 1FZ was, this will have ramifications for the thickness of the adapter ring, and to a lesser degree the placement of the oil pan sump (this is still an unsolved problem). This is the adapter, notice the cutout for the cummins starter, as well as alignment pins for both the R2.8 and 1FZ.

The 6BT and other mentioned motors seem to have the same general power. The R2.8 Cummins is also more efficient so, that is what attracts me to it. From general shopping searches, unless I get a tired worn motor, the Cummins R2.8 seems to be a bit cheaper too. Regarding made in China, it is what it is, just like the Korean-made Cummins engines.With new clutch in hand, about mid-June, I dis-assembled the adapter set and fit the clutch. The stack of parts is pretty tall, not ideal, but it should work fine. Weight-wise, its heavy. Both the stock Ford 351 flywheel and the Cummins flywheel hover around 25lbs.
