Alternatively you can take a look at Eufy and Arlo for decent “smart” cameras and NVRs, or do it the semi-professional way with Hikvision or Axis. It will depend on your budget and your willingness to get involved.Unifi routing is not well regarded for a couple of reasons. 1. Ubiquiti is not good at support. Also, often their software/firmware updates break things. 2. I had a self-hosted setup with 3 APs. The controller ran on my desktop which was wirelessly connected to the APs. I bought a UCG Ultra to replace my EdgeRouter X. I got it setup, but at 192.168.1.1, my device list just shows the UGC. At 127.0.0.1:8080, I see my 3 APs.But yes you can. The access points can be run without a controller, they will just continue to use the last configuration. You will need a controller to configure them, it might be technically possible to do this via the command line but you might as well just setup your own Linux computer with a wifi card.If it is, it looks like a replacement for the UDM base. You are correct, you get the 6ghz band that can be used for more speed or a duplex connection. So your device could send and receive at once, like Ethernet. Not as good of course, but a lot better than otherwise.
